Cockapoo
About the Cockapoo
Cockapoos are designer hybrids created by crossing Cocker Spaniels with Poodles, combining the spaniel's hunting heritage with the Poodle's intelligence and non-shedding coat. These medium-sized dogs were developed to create sociable, trainable companions without the shedding of traditional spaniels. They have become one of the most popular hybrid breeds.
Temperament
Cockapoos are intelligent, affectionate, and playful companion dogs who combine the best traits of their parent breeds. They're eager to please, responsive to training, and thrive on human interaction and mental stimulation.
Care Guide
Daily exercise (45-60 minutes) including play and training keeps them engaged and happy. Their non-shedding, wavy to curly coat requires regular brushing (3-4 times weekly) and professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Early socialization ensures they're confident and friendly with people and other pets.
Did you know?
Cockapoos are among the first designer crossbreeds developed intentionally in the 1960s, predating Labradoodles and other popular "doodle" hybrids.

Common Cockapoo owner questions
Short answers for the questions new owners search most often
How much should a Cockapoo weigh?
Cockapoo weight depends on sex, frame and body condition. The age table is a planning estimate derived from adult breed weights, so confirm with your vet if your dog is gaining or losing quickly.
How often should I groom a Cockapoo?
Cockapoo grooming is usually high. Brush more often during shedding, after muddy walks, or if you notice mats forming.
What should new Cockapoo puppy owners do first?
Book a first vet visit, confirm vaccine history, keep food consistent for the first few days, and start a calm toilet, sleep and handling routine.
