About the Samoyed
Samoyeds originated in northwestern Siberia with the Samoyede people who used them to herd reindeer, pull sleds, and provide warmth on cold nights. Bred to work and sleep alongside their families, they developed close social bonds. These white, fluffy dogs became popular in Imperial Russia and eventually worldwide.
Temperament
Samoyeds are friendly, outgoing, and gentle dogs with remarkably happy dispositions and love for all people. They're social pack animals who thrive on human companionship and struggle with solitude.
Care Guide
Daily exercise (1 hour) including running and play keeps them healthy. Their thick double coat sheds heavily; brush multiple times weekly especially during shedding season. They were bred to sleep with people and crave human closeness. Monitor for hip dysplasia and eye disease.
